What is unfunded?

Today, public schools are the place where our kids spend most of their waking hours. We trust that educational institutions are a place where educators educate our children, empowering them to be above-and-beyond-average. However, our public schools, on average, are approximately 42 years old, and most facilities have insufficient means for not only basic maintenance but also for necessary improvements. For most districts, raising taxes or passing bonds to maintain buildings is dependent on already-overburdened taxpayers. Unfunded serves as a platform to bridge the gap by sharing stories, so that we can all invest in our collective future.

What is an unfunded story?

Unfunded stories are created to advocate for better environments. The unfunded story gives the opportunity to introduce people to the challenges our schools face.

Our education system

The varying inequalities of learning environments can range from chalkboards in the classroom to state-of-the-art technology whiteboards. These types of environments lack necessary updates that are 20+ years overdue. Because not every school facility is equal, the learning experience may be inequitable. Unfunded aims to level the playing field by gains in equity for a level foundation.

Unite for tomorrow

Public schools are not only educational institutions, but also most importantly, are a place for communities to join together. Where ‘Friday Night Lights' is a rite of passage, the Spelling Bee is a neighborhood celebration, and where our children begin their journeys into the men and women of our country.

How it works

Schools have needs, and people want to help. Unfunded is here to connect the dots and give our school access to a wider audience. The mission for unfunded is to facilitate a student and community, driven impact.
